Sterilising Phuket's dogs and cats,

Treating those who are otherwise left suffering, Feeding those that otherwise go hungry.

17,931 dogs and cats sterilised since October 2003 (to end March 2008)

It is estimated that Soi Dog look after over 1000 dogs in temples, the SDF centre and around the streets of Phuket. We desperately need sponsors to help us continue to help us help the strays of Phuket!

Sponsor a Dog

There are about 50 temples on the island, most have an average of about 30 dogs, it is estimated that Soi Dog look after about 600 dogs in temples alone, not counting other street dogs, and the 400+ dogs at the Shelter.

Thanks to all your help over 290 dogs and cats are now sponsored!  We still desperately need sponsors to help us pay for our expenditure in feeding, treating and sterilising.

Many of our sponsored dogs become adopted. So by sponsoring a dog you will be helping them with the transition from a lonely, hard life on the streets to being adopted into a loving home.

The following dogs live at Wat Manik

Wat Manik is situated in the north of the island not far from Wat Cherngtalay. A large temple, it is home to no more than 20 dogs as the head monk here is very anti dog. The ones that do live here have all been here a long time and are tolerated by him. Some of the other monks though are sympathetic to the dogs and cooperate with us.

Garam

Mature male who has recovered well from mange treatment.

more soon...

Wat Kuku Prompang, on the Northern edge of Phuket town. Our dog catchers in the south found this temple, which nobody knew about in about March 2006. It does not appear on any local maps. Usually flags at the end of a road announce a temple, but there is nothing here at all and it is down a track that leads nowhere. There are 4 monks here who were desperate for food for the 20/30 dogs there.

They are all friendly and seem to get on well with each other. Never seen a fight here which is unusual. The monks are caring and we have a vet who will provide treatment at very low cost as she supports this temple.
