Adoption Details:
Adoption requirements vary by country. Europe, Canada and the USA are quite straight forward.
Europe Including The UK and Ireland (with the exception of Norway):

-
The animal requires a blood test which is sent to Europe for analysis (Cost 90 Euros). The animal can fly 3 months after the blood test. You will be required to pay a deposit of 200 Euros which needs to be paid in advance & is non refundable, (the blood test is paid for from this deposit).
-
Transport as "cargo" (non accompanied). Cost: 800 to 1200 Euro. HOWEVER with many airlines if the animal is taken as "accompanied baggage" the cost is considerably less. This does depend on the airline. A number of "flight volunteers" have helped by taking animals as accompanied baggage. Soi Dog is actively promoting awareness of a flight volunteer "program". (see below for additional details regarding travel as accompanied baggage)
-
Flight Cage: Between 60 and 120 Euro (provided by our supplier wholesale)
-
No quarantine. (UK/Ireland as of January 2012)
Soi Dog handles all the logistics surrounding these matters, the adopter does not have to do anything regarding the logistics.
North America/Canada:

- No blood test required.
- Transport as "cargo" (non accompanied). Cost: $800 to $1500. HOWEVER with many airlines if the animal is taken as "accompanied baggage" the cost is considerably less. (see below for additional details regarding travel as accompanied baggage). You will need to pay a US$200 non refundable deposit to reserve your new friend. (this amount will be deducted from total cost of your adoption)
- Flight Cage: Between $80 and $160 (provided by our supplier wholesale)
- No quarantine period.
Norway:

- Costs same as the rest of Europe (above).
- Must travel initially to another EU country and once qualified can proceed without the need of quarantine. (generally entails the adopter collecting from Holland or France)
Australia/New Zealand:
![]()
Australia and New Zealand are both time consuming and expensive to rehome animals to which is unfortunate in that there are a lot of Soi Dog supporters in Australia. Not impossible though. The options are:
- The animals have a 6 month period in Singapore followed by a one month quarantine in Australia or New Zealand.
- Or (preferred but more expensive) the animal is sent to the United States for 6 months where no quarantine is required and then sent to Australia/New Zealand.
Traveling As Accompanied Baggage:
The adopter, a friend, or a Soi Dog "Flight Volunteer" often takes the animal as accompanied baggage which can be less expensive than as cargo. Therefore as much notice as possible should be given so that the option of a flight volunteer can be explored. If there is a confirmed volunteer the volunteer should contact the airline in advance and "Book" the dog onto the flight & ask for rates. (Note: That it is not possible to stop off in another country except for transit.).
Some airlines charge as much as cargo while others have special rates for any size cage.
