Martin Carolan's Birthday Wish...

Hi all, well as you know it is not long now till I celebrate my 40^th birthday on November 6^{t h}, and indeed 10 years living in Australia! In the tradition of what I believe in, I have decided that for my 40^th to use my birthday as a wonderful opportunity to raise money for a fantastic charity I am an avid supporter of in Phuket, Thailand.

As you all know Kris and I are a little dog obsessed with our 4 puplets.  Having visited Thailand a number of times I am always saddened to see the many stray dogs often in very poor condition wandering the streets and begging for food.  Many of them have horrible skin conditions and many are abused by their owners or people in the street. 

The Soi Dog Foundation is a not for profit that is based in Phuket who thankfully are there to rescue these dogs and give them a better life.  Indeed many of the dogs they rescue are re-homed overseas due to the many tourists that come to Phuket on holidays and understand the plight of these little guys and gals. I myself sponsor a dog called Pepper (below) at the home; you can see his photo below.  He is an older guy but also needs love and support hence why I chose to sponsor him. He also looks a little like George. 

That is why I am asking that you support my Soi Dog Birthday appeal by donating to them instead of buying me a 40^th present. Soi Dog is in the process of raising funds to purchase the remainder of the land on which the shelter is located. This land currently houses Soi Dog’s clinic, the puppy and old/weak dog’s runs, as well as other critical facilities. I am asking you to join me to purchase either 1 meter at $36 or 2 meters of land at $72 (go on, do the 2 metres please...) This is important to me as I know Maggie, George, Judy and Peggy have a great life with Kris and I and maybe we can help some poor street dogs have a better quality of life in Phuket. This is also important to me as Kris is taking me to Phuket at Christmas as a wee present for my birthday and I look forward to visiting my sponsor dog Pepper and seeing the home. 

The acquisition of this land is critical in sustaining the growth of Soi Dog and continuing their work in helpings the stray and homeless animals of Thailand.
