Roby Abeles’ Birthday Wish...

Hi all, faster than I could’ve imagined possible, my birthday is next week. How does that happen????

This year I’ve found out about a fabulous organization, which I am supporting in a couple of ways. The Soi (Street) Dog Foundation is a not for profit, which is based in Phuket, Thailand, who thankfully are there to rescue and help dogs and cats and give them medical care and a better life. 

Many of the dogs have horrible skin conditions, other unimaginable injuries and many are abused by their owners or people in the street. The loving people who work there have a great spay and neuter program, they don’t kill any of the dogs or cats that come into their care and they find them sponsors and also re-home them – sometimes to other parts of the world. Amazing warm, good-hearted souls – all of them.

As you all know, I love animals and I know most of you do too. Earlier this year I sat down at my laptop with Sydney and Chippy and we looked at The Soi Dog website and we all chose a dog and also the cats at one of the Temples that we would support financially.

The dog’s name is Fancy and she is Sydney’s clone in Phuket.

The Temple or Wat is called Wat KuKu and has many cats, which are fed and loved by the monks there. As you know Chippy is a little self-absorbed and so I thought it would be good for her to think of other cats and reach out a paw and help them.  Having a name like KuKu also fits Chippy well.

That is why I am asking that you support my Soi Dog Birthday appeal by donating to them instead of buying me a present (like you were going to!).

Soi Dog is in the process of raising funds to purchase the remainder of the land on which the shelter is located. This land currently houses Soi Dog’s clinic, the puppy and old/weak dog’s runs, as well as other critical facilities. I am asking you to join me to purchase either 1 metre at $36 or 2 meters of land at $72 (go on, do the 2 metres please...)

This is important to me and maybe we can help some poor street dogs and Temple cats have a better quality of life in Phuket. The acquisition of this land is critical in sustaining the growth of Soi Dog and continuing their work in helping the stray, sick and homeless animals of Thailand.
