Updates on our dogs in treatment below:

Dicky

Dicky (now sponsored and renamed Milo), brought in by Jenny an SDF volunteer, she found the dog in the middle of the road in Kamala, absolutely terrified. She brought to the shelter & skin scrapings were done & he has Sarcoptic mange, & dermatitis, it still remains to be seen if he has a fungal Infection, he ate a whole large tin of food & was a real wimp when having antibiotic & Ivomec injections! He will stay at the SDF shelter, where we will try to re home him once well again.

Dog with Head wound Bluebell.

Bluebell after Bluebell after

Bluebell (now sponsored) on the mend

The dog in the picture above was picked up late September after SDF received a call from a Muslim lady in Cherngtalay. She told us that she had taken pity on the dog and and it was now in her garden, but being Muslim she could not touch it. She told us that the dog had been hit over the head by its owner. It is now recovering at the SDF shelter where it will remain for obvious reasons. Photos of the dog when it came in can be viewed by clicking here but should not be viewed by anybody easily upset by graphic images. However they illustrate the types of injuries that SDF have to deal with on a regular basis.

Missing Ear Treated Tumour

The dog on the left is from Wat Kuku had to have its ear amputated and is probably going back to Wat Kuku. The one lying down had a tumour as is now much better. It came from patong and is probably going back.

Nearly Starved Boo after

Boo (now sponsored), the dog drinking water, was found nearly dead from starvation. It's getting better but also has venereal tumour which is being treated with chemo therapy. Photo on the right shows him on the mend.

 Poodle

The little poodle was thrown away at a temple in Phuket Town. Quite old and blind in one eye.

Ture - the cat that went to Sweden

Yenny and Xerses found the cat, Ture, on an island in the very South of Thailand & brought it to Phuket to see if we could help them get it back to Sweden. The cat lived at Dr. Trethep's until it had the blood work done & passed the tests. Then SDF arranged for Ture to fly to Sweden and a new life.

Ture Ture

From Yenny:
"Ture loves his new life and is not acting like a 6 year old cat no, rather 6 MONTHS. It feels like he´s been reborn. He is soooo full of life, love and caring, that sometimes it lookes like he´s gonna burst :-) He adapted very quickly to us and his new environment. The first two weeks he was inside the house cause it was quit cold here. after that I took him for strolls around the area in a leash, wich he accepted without a fuss. His eyes have been a bit of a struggle. He had cornea damage on both eyes and herpes infection on top of that. His right eye healed after about a month and some surgery but the left one is very persistent and has not healed yet. But the last two weeks we have seen some progress and now his eye is wide open almost all the time. So perhaps on our next visit to the eye specialist on Monday we will finally get some good news!!

He was a really fat cat when he first came to us. But now he has lost 0,7 kilo and gained a lot of muscle strength. So now the ladycats in the neighborhood has to look out for them self cause he´s really handsome now. (and he knows it :-)

He´s coat (fur) is shiny and have been growing thicker and longer. So now its not that cold for him anymore. But some days he needs to have some clothes when we go out so that he wont catch a cold. (you see that in one of the pictures) This summer has been very rainy and unusually cold unfortunately". It will be very exciting to see the look on his face when the first snow comes in December :-)

He is slowly adapting to our other cats. There has been some fights and Ture is very quick to use his fists. Probably cause his used to fight for everything before he came here. Food, love, attention, and a roof over his head. But hopefully he will soon realise that that belongs to the past, and that fighting is no longer needed.
