Please sponsor a Dog or Cat we cannot feed or treat dogs and
cats without your help
Following the Asian
Tsunami, December 2004, there was an increase in abandoned
dog and cats
as people moved from Phuket in search of work and a decrease in food
supplies from hotels and restaurants due to businesses that were either been
affected directly by the tsunami or by the loss of revenue from
tourists.
So SDF introduced
the
Leone Cosens
feeding programme
in memory of the late Leone Cosens who died in the Asian Tsunami.
Volunteers are feeding
dogs
throughout Phuket at temples, beaches and other locations.
Volunteers buy
food from their own pocket
and wherever possible volunteers
also collect leftover
food from
hotels but SDF
is are now buying nearly 2,600 kgs
of dry dog and cat food
every month to supplement this, a cost of 50,000 baht per
month.
Although most feeding is done by volunteers at their own expense we
do employ to local Thais to feed many of the dogs. The costs for
these people and their transportation comes to 10,000 baht per
month.
That's a total
of 60,000 Thai Baht per month.
When we feed dogs in the
temples and other locations we see many
dogs
and cats needing treatment. We now urgently need people
to sponsor dogs and cats to cover our treatment costs, which come to
40,000 THB per
month on
average.
Many thanks to all of our sponsors, some of
whom pay for treatment and food of their sponsored animal. The
figures above show the overall number of sponsors we need to support both
the food and the treatment programs. When you sponsor a dog or a cat
you help not only the animal you have sponsored but many, many
others. The figures below show you all help over 1000 dogs and cats
a month to be fed. To keep treating the animals that come to us
every month we need more sponsors.

gift certificate We also put your name and a thank you on our
sponsored animals page. You will then receive 6 monthly updates on
how your sponsored dog or cat is doing. You can also sponsor a dog

or our PayPal gift certificates.
