Good things come to those who wait, right?
Hello! I’m Blackyleky, a sweet senior girl looking for a home.
You might be wondering what my name means. It’s actually quite simple. The Soi Dog staff named me based on my appearance – “Blacky” for the colour of my fur and “leky” for my size (“lek” meaning “small” in Thai!)
I earned this name when I first arrived at the shelter back in March 2021. Prior to that, I’d lived on the streets for many years, and those years had taken their toll on me. I was sick, skinny and limping due to an old fracture to my leg which had healed incorrectly and was causing me great pain.
With the help of surgery and physiotherapy, I’m doing much better now, though I still have some of the aches and ailments that come with being a senior dog. The adoptions team can tell you all about this when you get in touch.
I’m a sweet girl who enjoys meeting people. When I have visitors to my enclosure, I approach them gently and wait politely for them to pet me. I don’t clamour for their attention like the younger dogs do; I’ve learnt that good things come to those who wait!
Speaking of which, I’ve been waiting to find a home for many years now. If you can make it happen, please enquire. I don’t want to live the rest of my life in a shelter.
