Weper was three years old and  living on the streets when he was discovered unable to walk. He had been in a road traffic accident and arrived at Soi Dog’s Cat Hospital for treatment to his injury. During his health check on entry, the vet tested Weper for FIV and tested positive. It is important to know that most FIV cats remain healthy for years and may never get sick as a result of the virus which affects the immune system and increases susceptibility to infections. Weper's adopter should be aware that, as FIV-infected cats are at increased risk of secondary infections as well as developing cancer or blood disorders, they should be housed indoors. Reducing stress in their environment and encouraging eating should help keep them happy and healthy for their remaining life span. FIV cats should visit the veterinarian regularly to optimize routine health care such as vaccinations, dental checks, and parasite control. Weper's adopter should also be aware that he is an energetic and playful cat who loves to play with toys and cuddle with people.
