I still sometimes think about that awful day back in June 2019. I slipped and fell into a canal and couldn’t get myself out. As an old and blind boy, I started to panic. Fortunately, some local people saw my terror and came to help me.

I have lived on the ruthless streets of Thailand for more than 13 years, and during that time I have seen and been through many horrible things. But that day I fell into the canal might have been the scariest day of my life. In a way, though, it was also perhaps one of the best days because my rescuers contacted Soi Dog and then life all of a sudden got a lot better.

I arrived at Soi Dog in a pitiful state. I had a chronic tick-borne disease, severe anaemia and low blood platelets. I also had and continue to have a condition called dry eye which means that my tear ducts don’t work property. Over time, this ailment irritated my corneas and eventually caused me to go blind.

I have never had a place to call home or a proper family to love me. But now, for the first time in my life, I finally feel safe. I will never again have to wander the streets all alone and unloved. I now have a place to lay my weary head and to sleep peacefully.

I think you’ll agree after seeing my pictures below that I have made quite the transformation since arriving at Soi Dog. Amazingly, I have also regained a little bit of sight since being at Soi Dog. I will be on eye medication for the rest of my life and also need joint supplements, medicine to help with my chronic anaemia and pain relief on occasion. With so many ongoing health issues, I am unlikely to be adopted and will most probably live out my days here at Soi Dog.

I am so grateful to kind people like you that enabled Soi Dog to take me in. But providing care to an oldie like me sure is expensive. Will you please help by becoming my friend and sponsor?

When you join the Sponsor Club you will receive a sponsorship certificate and three updates throughout the year including a special video at the end of the year.

Sponsoring a dog or cat means that your donation will go towards Soi Dog's efforts helping the neglected and abused dogs and cats of Asia. Your gift of sponsorship is used to help your sponsored dog or cat and all the other animals Soi Dog cares for to provide shelter, food & medicine and veterinary care.
