Since 2017, NTT DATA and Cisco have supported Soi Dog in staying connected across our sites in Phuket. After the fibre groundwork was put in place, their team of around 30 dedicated employees installed and set up the new network in a single day. Cisco generously donated the equipment including indoor and outdoor wireless access points, Meraki switches, and outdoor surveillance cameras, and NTT DATA designed and delivered the solution.
NTT DATA still supports the network with regular maintenance and security check-ups. They also help when we need more complex fixes. This lets our vets and volunteers upload treatment and vaccination updates from mobile devices anywhere on site, instead of waiting for shared terminals. Soi Dog’s infrastructure is spread across multiple buildings and locations, all exposed to harsh conditions – including high temperatures, high humidity and open-air environments and it keeps voice, data and environmental controls connected through one shared system.
Cisco’s equipment has been really dependable, which means we’ve had fewer urgent problems to fix. For difficult cases, our team can also consult online with vets in Bangkok and beyond, and our IT team can manage the network from the cloud using Cisco Meraki.
As Soi Dog has grown across four locations and our Wi-Fi and security needs have increased, we’re planning the next step to upgrade and strengthen the network – so we can respond faster, work more efficiently and ultimately help save more animals. We’re truly grateful to NTT DATA and Cisco for standing with us as we do this work: without them countless animals would be waiting for help that may have never shown up.
