Hi! I’m Lamu, an active, friendly and sometimes cautious boy looking for a home.
I was born on the streets and grew up alongside a busy road. With no one to care for me, I stood little chance out there. Sure enough, around my first birthday, I was hit by a car. The damage was so severe that my leg had to be amputated. I thought that being a three-legged dog was going to be tough, but I’ve adapted extremely well. You should see my zoomies!
The accident affected me emotionally too, and I was quite frightened of the world for a while. However, the behaviour team worked closely with me and helped me overcome my shyness. While I still have my cautious moments, it usually doesn’t take long for me to trust people enough to ask for head scratches and cuddles.
I’ve been at the shelter for a very long time and would love the chance to experience life in a home. So if my story, my smile or perhaps my cute markings caught your eye, please enquire about me. You could be the one who changes my life!
THE ADOPTION PROCESS

Initial enquiry
Submit an adoption enquiry, answering some initial questions about your family, lifestyle and ideal companion.
Interview
Join a video call with one of our adoption coordinators to help find your perfect match. Discuss the dog’s medical history, behavioural needs and more.
Home Assessment
Complete a home visit – either in person or virtually – with one of our staff or volunteers to ensure you have everything in place to welcome a rescue dog.
Adoption agreement
Sign the adoption agreement, confirming your commitment to the care of your chosen dog.
Travel arrangements
Let our logistics team arrange your dog’s journey to you. Collect your new best friend from a pre-arranged location and enjoy a lifetime of happiness together!
