Thank you so much for clicking on my profile, I'm excited to share my story with you today!

My name is Occia, and boy, I certainly have a story to tell you. The word on the street is that us cats live nine lives, and I can’t help but believe this is true as I have already been through so much.

Some time ago now, I was found in dire condition. I had a big open wound on the right side of my face... all the way from the cheek to my upper head. It was so uncomfortable; it makes me sad just to think about it. My skin was completely exposed and caused a severe infection, which weakened my immune system and made me extremely vulnerable to any other minor disease - the pain was almost unbearable.

Luckily, someone found me and wanted to help.

I was in the hospital for a very long time and it took months for my wound to heal and for my fur to start to grow again... To this day they still say I might never get back to normal. But I do still consider myself a very lucky kitty. Everyone here at the sanctuary is just so kind to me. They were always there to give me lots of cuddles, and the encouragement I needed to recover and I will always be thankful for that.

Sadly, the bad news isn’t over yet. Not only did I have a tough recovery, but I was also diagnosed with something called Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) – see what I mean about the nine lives!

Because of this terrible disease, I have to be very careful with my health and need round-the-clock care. But don’t you worry, I still have a lot of fun and get up to mischief every now and then, just like us young cats are supposed to (despite the older cats shaking their whiskers at us).

Having FIV, Soi Dog will probably be the only home I ever have as it makes me less likely to be adopted. I know that’s hard to believe, but sadly it’s the reality.

I like to look on the positive side of life though, and I have so many reasons to smile. After hearing my story, I hope you will be one of those reasons. I would really love to have a kind sponsor, someone just like you. Your sponsorship will ensure that I will continue to receive all of the important medicines I need, as well as having a safe place to call my home. Not only will your sponsorship help me, but all my friends too. I’d be lost without them.

If you decide to sponsor me, I will make sure you receive regular updates throughout the year as well as special videos.

I hope this is the start of a beautiful friendship between us, it’s all in your paws now!

Sponsoring a dog or cat means that your donation will go towards Soi Dog's efforts helping the neglected and abused dogs and cats of Asia. Your gift of sponsorship is used to help your sponsored dog or cat and all the other animals Soi Dog cares for to provide shelter, food & medicine and veterinary care.
